Brief Profile Expand

Groupe CAT (Compagnie d'Affretement et de Transport SA) was established in 1957 by automotive manufacturer Renault to provide in-house freight services, particularly to the North American market from France. Groupe CAT has since developed generalised logistics and cargo activities.

In 2001, Renault sold a major part of the company to a consortium of three strategic investors (Global Automotive Logistics-GAL): Autologic, Wallenius Wilhelmsen and TNT, before finally selling the remaining 20% of the shares it owned in 2002. In 2007 Groupe CAT was taken over by Vehicle Services International (VSI) after GAL went into administration.

Groupe CAT is divided into 2 main divisions: Vehicle Logistics (finished vehicles) and Cargo Logistics (parts, components and accessories).
