CFR Marfa (Romanian Rail Freight)
Caile Ferate Romane (Romanian Railways) is the national rail operator in Romania.
It divides its operations into three segments: Infrastructure (CFR), Passenger (CFR Calatori), Freight (CFR Marfa)
CFR Marfa provides rail freight services for industries including: coal, oil, chemicals, ore, metal, building materials, wood, cars, military and agriculture. It is particularly important to Romania's coal sector, being the only company to transport coal on a large scale in the country.
The company is set for privatisation in 2013, as part of an agreement by Romania to commit to "structural reforms" as a condition for a loan from the IMF and EU.For 2012, CFR Marfa estimated its revenues at RON1.2bn.
