Groupe Eurotunnel SA (Eurotunnel PLC )
Eurotunnel is the holder, until 2086, of the concession to operate the cross-Channel Fixed Link. Eurotunnel manages the infrastructure of the Channel Tunnel and operates accompanied Truck Shuttle and Passenger Shuttle services between Folkestone, UK and Calais, France. Eurotunnel also earns toll revenue from passenger and freight train operators which use the Tunnel.
The Channel Tunnel opened in 1994, having accumulated considerable debt that could not be covered by passenger revenues. The company has been operating under French bankruptcy protection laws since August 2006 in order to provide relief from debt repayments. In May 2007, an agreement was reached with shareholders to swap their shares (units) in Eurotunnel for a stake in a new company, Groupe Eurotunnel SA (GET SA).
Up until the restructuring agreement, Eurotunnel operated under two parent companies: Eurotunnel PLC and Eurotunnel SA. Following the restructuring, Eurotunnel SA and Eurotunnel PLC became subsidiaries of Groupe Eurotunnel SA.In 2013, its revenues were €1.09bn.
