Brief Profile
Based in Chiasso, Switzerland, Hupac is a rail transport provider of intermodal container traffic. It also has offices in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Poland.
Hupac operates a European intermodal network with a focus on alpine transit, but also operates a Eurasian network which extends from Spain to Eastern Europe, Russia and the Far East.
Hupac's operating model is different from a traditional rail freight provider. Hupac combines the consignments of different transport companies into whole trains as a neutral, independent combined transport operator. These trains run back and forth between transhipment terminals on long and mostly international routes, with traction provided by external rail companies.
In 2013, Hupac had revenues of CHF480.2m.
