Roberts Europe (acquired by Flash Europe, 2012)
May - Flash Europe acquired the freight solutions provider Roberts Europe as part of its market growth strategy.
The transactionwas expand Flash Europe's international capabilities. The company's general manager explained that it was a 'logical step', whilst its Director for Europe stated, "In Roberts Europe, we've acquired a company that has been operating highly successfully in the market for many years, and is also one of the largest providers in the direct and special deliveries segment, as well as being highly competent in industrial freight, including for the automotive industry."
Roberts Europe's Director for Sales continued, "The new company structure enables us to continue leading the company forward and make the most of extra potential. Now altogether we've got access to around 6,000 vehicles and 3,000 reliable partners, which means we can provide our customers with even better service".
The 160 employees at the Maastricht site and in the Warsaw and Lisbon offices would be taken over without exception. The CEO of the company, however, planned to leave 'to devote himself to new business challenges.'The financial details of the acquisitions were not disclosed.
Roberts Europe is a Pan European Premium Freight specialist, founded in 1990 (as Roberts Express Europe). It offers its customers tailored road / air solutions through an international network of contracted carriers.
The company has its headquarters in The Netherlands and has subsidiaries in Poland, Portugal and support offices in Hungary and Romania.
In 2000, the company was taken over by FedEx Custom Critical, then in 2005 there was a Management Buy Out and the name was changed to Roberts Europe.In May, 2012 the business was acuired by Flash Europe.
